ABOUT

To provide a variety of professional services and programs that address the unique needs of our communities, which includes opportunities that will improve and enhance the quality of life that prepare communities to be self-sustaining.

Yvonne Woods
President

Yvonne Woods established the Norfolk Area Council in 1998 to assist in the Norfolk Revitalization Plan with Jefferson County Government, Community Based Services, Law enforcement Agency, Housing Corporation Developers, Jefferson County Public Schools, Human Services, Bank Institutions, Business and Property Owners.  The success has been a model example for other communities to adopt from Norfolk. The council became incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 2001. Ms. Woods engaged the community to serve on subcommittees and enhance the empowerment for a safe environment. The needs of the community were overwhelming with safety and public polices, the council decided to open a resource one-stop location which developed strategic programs and services for residents.  Norfolk Community was successful, and other neighborhoods need consulting on their assessments. Ms. Woods decided to expand the Norfolk Community Resource Center to Community Connections in 2005.   To this day in spite of the many obstacles the center has endured, and it continues to serve all communities that are in need of services and programs we have to offers.
